Qualifications

1.) Motivation- You must be self-motivated.

2.) Computer Skills- You must have very good understanding of computers or have an assistant who does.

3.) Typing- You must be able to type or have someone working with you who can. (Typing programs available)*

4.) Common Sense- Common sense is the biggest requisite.

5.) Mapping skills or Follow Directions- You must be able to find your way around in an unfamiliar place. (GPS, Internet mapping programs, read a map) We recommend Street Atlas 2009 with GPS. Check out www.Delorme.com.

6.) Sense of Direction- You must be able to distinguish the direction. (Buy a compass or GPS program)

7.) Self Control- You must be able to keep your head in very often unfriendly circumstances.

8.) Follow Directions/Teachable- You must be able to take directions from supervision and be able to adjust to an ever changing industry from policies to adjustment practices.

9.)People Skills- You must be able to work well with others.

10.) Accept Criticism- You must be able to accept constructive criticism from management.

11.) Not Afraid of Heights- You must not be afraid of heights. Note: Some adjusters specialize in flood to avoid climbing roofs.

12.) Stamina- You must be able to work 12 hours or more per day at least 30 days straight.

13.) Good Work Ethic- You must be able to work everyday with the understanding that your pleasure must be placed on hold until after the assignment is complete.

14.) Adaptability- You must be able to pack up your office into containers and move to another location sometimes thousands of miles away.

15.) Sacrifice- You must understand that catastrophe adjusting is a lonely demanding business requiring great sacrifice of relationships.

16.) Intelligent- Average intelligence is what has created a need for Millennium Adjusters trained for the 2000 issues. CATASTROPHE ADJUSTING IS NOT FOR AVERAGE PEOPLE.

17.) Drug/Alcohol Abuse- You must not be addicted to drugs or alcohol. (Drug testing is required by some venders)

18.) Reading Comprehension- You must be able to comprehend and apply ever changing information provided on a Catastrophe site.

19.) Neat Appearance- Most carriers require that you adhere to a dress code of Dockers/slacks and a polo style or company shirt with well kept hair.

20.) Clean Record - Background investigations are a standard operating procedure for companies. States prohibit the licensing of known felons.

21.) Experience - We now require that you be proficient in Xactimate, digital  photography and able to scope an average loss in less than 15 minutes. MUST

22.) Cash Reserves - You must be able to keep your finances in tact while working. You should plan for 6 months in home expenses when attempting to get into this business (see Financial Investment) if you don't want to be one of those shooting stars.
