Many insurance companies have developed their own Certification Classes. State Farm, USAA, Allstate, and American Family to name a few, have created tests to see what kind of adjusting/insurance knowledge a person possesses. They created these certifications to show good faith and that they are actively trying to provide better adjusting staff during a catastrophe event as a part of their overall catastrophe plan. Many Carriers see the flaws to this approach, but in the absence of any better alternatives, they will continue this process. We believe that is time for the Independent Companies to embrace their own Certification process during the off season to provide a clearer picture as to the true abilities of the adjusters they are providing. Catastrophe Training Academy continues to be the innovators in the insurance training industry by creating the Field Adjuster Certification (F.A.C.), to provide a better way to determine success during an event. Our certification is based on the creation of an actual paperless file. There are many Independent Companies who are actively looking for better ways to screen applicants due to the many resumes that they are bombarded with on a daily basis for work. The large turnover rate for catastrophe adjusters creates a situation where every company is looking for better ways to fill their rosters with qualified adjusters. Companies will deploy you if they know you posses the ability to adapt quickly and close claims with limited additional training or supervision. That is why the Field Adjuster Certification is so important. We understand, many people can pass a certification test who have no business adjusting losses, and, many good adjusters are poor "test takers" which can be discouraging. One thing is certain; however, experienced adjusters know how to properly close a file. The Field Adjuster Certification ( F.A.C.) is not a Certification Test like any now being given in the industry by the Carriers. It is more like the C.P.C.U., A.I.C. and others which provides a clearer picture to the prospective employer than you were able to pass one multiple choice Test or calculate a simple roof. The F.A.C. is a credential that tells the independent adjusting firm and/or carrier that you have the conceptual ability to figure out reasonably what items should be addressed on a certain scenario and to complete a paperless file consisting of (Fee Bill, Statement of Loss, Xactimate Estimate, and Personal Property Inventory Form) in a (3) hour time frame. The Scope that you will be given has flaws on purpose used to determine your problem solving ability to figure out what should reasonably be paid to indemnify the insured. It would be easy to create a test where we provide the answers, but what value or benefit would that have in the industry? The Pass Rate is approximately 25% insuring that those that receive the credential can produce. There are many correct answers to this scope of damage written up in Xactimate since, as all experienced adjusters know, two adjusters can have different ways of seeing damage. All we are looking for is that what you are writing up makes sound sense based on the scope provided and backed up in the Narrative that you are required to write to properly document why payment should be made by the carrier off your estimate. All that take the FAC Test will receive a comprehensive evaluation of their test explaining what areas that they did well on, as well as, identifying those problem areas where additional training and study will be required. There are certain Minor things that we ask of the adjusters prior to the test (which are very easy) that we insist on completion or you will not receive you Certification. These minor elements are given to create stressful conditions that all independent adjusters experience in the field; however, in an air conditioned room with all the tools at your disposal and the ability to ask the instructor quietly any question. We do not tolerate talking or the use of any hand written notes. However, we provide computer handouts and forms which we recommend using. Please be advised that this test will bring great stress and in some instance some students will become overwhelmed. It is designed to do so. Catastrophe situations are always stressful and overwhelming at times. All who decide to take this test should be prepared. This course is an excellent way for those individuals who are thinking of entering the independent adjusting field to examine whether or not they should continue. If you are unable to complete the Certification successfully, we will allow you to retest for a $50 processing fee at the next certification class. You will be allowed to sit in on the final review and test on the final day. Prerequisites to this course include having the following programs loaded and ready for use on your laptop:
Note: We do not recommend spending large amounts of money for equipment or software. Attending all classes does not constitute passing the F.A.C. and we do not warrant that most will pass. Furthermore, we affirm that passing of the F.A.C. Certification is not a promise of employment anymore than obtaining carrier certifications will.
