The class is
taught by certified adjusters for the top insurance carriers in the nation who have exhibited high levels
of expertise in the field. You will share
in their
secrets and what has allowed them to be successful.
We have designed several different training
seminars which incorporate specialized training necessary to be the best.
Currently, we offer one day accredited courses for Xactimate, Proper File
Documentation/Activity Logs, Coverage for Personal Property and Additional
Living Expense, Roofing Recognition and Diagramming, and Applied Ethics in
Insurance. These curriculums have taken over
10 years to develop and incorporate the
policies and procedures of the nations largest insurance companies. Our
classes teach the guidelines set forth by these vendors in a real down to earth approach.
We realize
after years of training seminars, the need remains for more consistent
work in the Catastrophe Industry. This year we have forged relationships
with several companies who will use our adjusters once we have trained
them. We have just finished development of a New Credential for the
Catastrophe Adjuster. The new Field Adjuster Certification or
F.A.C. designation, we feel will be the standard. This certification
encompasses all the necessary components of Catastrophe Adjusting taught
in a 5 day curriculum. It is designed to separate those who can be
successful and put them in a position for work when the next big event
hits. Finally, because of these new relationships, we are offering the
F.A.C. course at half the regular cost negotiated by the Sponsoring
Company who desires to hire those adjusters who successfully complete
the course.
Our principal
mode of training is by setting up in area hotels in Texas, Florida, and
North Carolina providing
PowerPoint presentations in an seminar style training. However, changes in our industry coupled with
feedback from our students have forced us to reexamine our way of
instruction. In trying to meet the increased demands of our industry, we
have added a One on One training system, which for those who can afford
it, is probably the most effective way to learn this business. All our
training is offered offsite to students and venders anywhere in our Texas service area.
We offer all our classes to any insurance
carrier or company throughout the United States. We have no travel
restrictions; however, certain minimum rates apply.
Background
Catastrophe Training Academy
was opened in January of 2000 to meet the ever increasing demands for specialized training in the insurance adjusting field.
The
founder and Chief Operations Officer is B. D. Oliver, AIC who recognized
the need for more specialized training entering into the adjusting field
after the May 5th, 1995 hailstorm in Dallas, Texas. During the years following, he compiled vast amounts of information from various
venders and carriers to developing a curriculum that would truly advance
the knowledge and abilities of adjusters using real life events from his
career and others who were identified as being tops in the field.
After
completing his real estate studies at the University of Houston in 1979,
Mr. Oliver accepted a management and training position for a firm where he
developed a six week new agent training program using both printed and
overhead tools. This company became the top sales office for the ERA
franchise in all of Houston and surrounding areas in 1980 and 1981. He
worked during the down turn in the 80's with R.E.O. and distressed
properties where he oversaw the acquisition, rehabilitation, leasing, and
sales operations greatly adding to his knowledge of reparability and the
cost involved.
Like most
adjusters, he started off as a trainee doing whatever it takes to be
successful which meant continually attending training sessions. During the
past 10 years, he has received insurance accreditations which include: Associate
in Claims (AIC) from the Insurance Institute of America, Vale National Property Certification, all Farmers, State Farm,
Allstate, U.S.A.A., Nationwide, N.F.I.P (RCBAP), TWIA, FWIA, and Haag
Engineering Certifications.
Location
Catastrophe Training Academy
is located in Central Texas in close proximity to College Station.
Currently, all training is done either in a field location
or in an office, hotel or home setting. We also hold in-house training for
carriers and independent adjusting firms at the location of their choice. (see schedule).
Representations
We make no representations as to the teachability of each enrollee.
We cannot make any claims except that any student that satisfactorily completes
the workshop will have been exposed to the most important criteria surrounding adjusting
industry.
Self-Study Courses
Many potential students want
to know what other courses can be taken as a precursor to our catastrophe
training. We recommend to those who would like an advantage to contact
Xactimate to obtain their "ILX
Construction Training" Construction Training on disk. Contact Xactware
Sales at 1-800-932-9228 to order the complete course. Furthermore,
we recommend to contact the
American Institute for AICPCU and take
the AIC 35 property course to learn how to interpret insurance policies,
as well as, standard adjusting practices. Contacting these entities and
others can be found on our Industry Links page.
